Sorry, I know this is pretty late. I mean, it has been almost 10 days since the last day of O's. But I was just kinda too unbothered or tired (since I've been going out quite a lot). But finally. A good release, huh? That day, we took some pictures at Jurassic Park (it's this HUGE green space out back of the school), jumping and throwing our umbrellas, yelling to the illegal immigrants in said forest. "It's over!" It's over. At last! Will post them pictures when I've bothered to upload them. You know the hassle with these things nowadays.

WOW.

You know what? I haven't been blogging in ages. But blame that on schoolwork, really. Sec 3 and 4 have been really hectic, and when it hasn't been hectic, I would rather do something else than blog, which explains my lack of the latter lately. By now you would probably know that I am obsessed with Michael J Fox (okay, it's sort of tapered down since last year), but otherwise I still like him very much, as you can see from the past few posts =) Anyway I shan't go on about him because I don't even know how much space I'd take up if I did that =P.
So yeah, blogging's out. Or is it? People don't blog anymore? It's no longer a fad? I actually kind of enjoy it, writing like this. In fact, I have so many things to just pour out, and this post might actually be a pretty long one, to make up for the billion years I haven't updated on you guys, haha. But enough small talk. I shall first begin with school, since it is my main occupation (after all, I am a student). School is, well, nyeh, if you put it. Ho-hum, same things everyday? For weeks? And months? Surprises me how people can't get tired of it. I know I can sometimes, but otherwise friends and certain subjects cheer me up =) Like right now, I'm having the June holidays and I have no idea why, but I just can't seem to put myself at the table to do some real, good, solid work. I'm totally upset at myself of course. Not to mention feeling guilty, gross, empty, and the list goes on. And then I try to get myself to study, but it's only for awhile, like I can't concentrate for long, not like during the school days. What is this, holiday mood? If so, I hate it. I hate it so much. I hate feeling guilty and empty and don't-feel-like-studying-ish. I would rather study because it actually gives me a very nice satisfaction after I do it...like wow, you know. But now, not wow. Really. Ugh. I got to pick myself up. I really hope this doesn't go on for long. Fine. I resolve. I resolve to do this properly, I resolve to set some targets as to what I want to achieve for my own studies and topics I want to cover. I have to do this. I just have to.
Okay. So that was (or rather, is) my problem with school and work since it's the holidays and everything. Do people really feel like this during the holidays? I mean, do they feel like they just can't sit there and memorise stuff for long? For some funny reason, I think everyone is busy working their heads off, which is why I feel so darn guilty about this. Ugh. But just pouring my heart out. Really.
NOW let's move on. Finally, since I got that out. Yeah, you know, I have suddenly taken a real interest in sci-fi flicks and lit after watching BTTF. And I don't mean alien invasions from outer space and lame space cadet outfits. No. I mean time travel! Isn't it so awesome to have that invention (if we did)? I mean, wouldn't it be cool to step into another era? While looking up this whole time-travel-sci-fi thing, I came across lots of extremely exciting time travel terms. Like Temporal Paradoxes. This refers to the paradox a time traveler could create if he went back in time and introduced even a minute change into the environment. For example, the Grandfather paradox. Let's say Marty, the time traveler, goes back to the time when his grandfather was born, and kills him. Now this would be a paradox because he has killed his own grandfather even before his father was born, which means that he could not have been born, therefore erasing his own existence. This results in a causality loop, which is actually where a cycle is 'broken', and in this case, the time traveler Marty who is currently existing, has no past because he has killed his own grandfather before his father was born. Get it? Quite cool, yes. Then another term, the 'Can-Not Because Has-Not theory'. This theory states that the present is not the forefront of time, and so actually we are our future selves' past (interesting, huh?). Thus, if sometime in the future a time travel device were created, someone from the future would have already brought it back to us, thus establishing itself as "already" existing in our time as a result. Since our present selves are still wondering about time travel, this theory states that we will never be able to build a time machine, because if we are still wondering, then no one from the future has built a time machine and brought it back with them to us, and if no one in the future has built a time machine, then we in the future will not build a time machine, and no one can ever build a time machine because no one in the future has built one. This theory, however, creates a causality loop (again! A paradox). Then there is the Butterfly Effect, which is explained by the timeline corruption hypothesis. It is somewhat like the Grandfather Paradox, where even a minute change by the time traveler to the past can result in serious changes in the future when the time traveler returns to his original time. For example, in BTTF, the 2015 Biff (I say 2015 because Marty and Doc went to 2015 and this is where Biff comes in) stole the time machine and went back to 1955 with a 20th century sports almanac (you know the book that contains all the past winnings in sports in the 20th century), and passed it to his young self. This attempt is so as to enable Biff to enter a get-rich-quick scheme, whereby, Biff, now having all the winnings, can simply bet on any sport game and win. Thus when Marty and Doc returned to 1985 from 2015, they were shocked and surprised because many unfortunate things had happened, and the place was chaotic and ashambles, not resembling the 1985 that they originally hailed from. Obviously, this alternate 1985 was the result of the young 1955 Biff obtaining the sports almanac and therefore changing the wealth distribution over time. Although the change was minute, it resulted in changes which were amplified over the years. This is why it is very dangerous to send someone back to the past without them leaving something beind, because for all you know, this may result in changes to the environment, people questioning the change, and then in turn changes to the world as we know it. Evident in Ray Bradbury's short story 'A Sound of Thunder'. An astounding story. Ray Bradbury is the best. I am so glad we have Fahrenheit 451 as our lit book =)
